Welcome and Introduction of New Committee Members

Business Arising
a) Adopt at Highway: We watched the video again. Rose-Marie has contacted Darlene Fountain to obtain a copy of the training brochure for volunteers and is waiting for a reply. A message was sent to the Goulais River Patrol Yard to inquire as to the best and safest times to collect trash from the highway. A bulletin announcement will be prepared for Aug 28/29 to inform parishioners that we will be asking for volunteers in the next few weeks. We hope to be able to collect trash either Saturday Sept 25 or Saturday Oct 2. Volunteer training will occur a few days before the cleanup. After the cleanup we plan to invite the volunteers back to the church for refreshment and reflections on the experience. We will also review the section of highway to determine the best locations for parking of the volunteers’ vehicles.
b) Season of Creation: Suzanne volunteered to create a bulletin board display for the Season of Creation. We will continue with a collection of materials for the Hazardous Waste dump each Sunday of September, using the announcements and collection baskets from previous years. Father Paul will include tin the bulletin the Dicastery invitation to participate in and support the Season of Creation. Father Paul will contact Jerry Conway for ideas about planting a tree onour church property – best location, best type of tree, best time, etc.

c) Updates:
i) City Council resolution re: elimination of plastics – A call has beenmade to Susan Hamilton-Beach, Director of Public Works to ask thestatus of the ‘elimination’ of single use plastics motion that waspresented to City Council. She has not yet replied.
ii) Logo update – Chris will re-send the logos to the committee. FatherPaul will renew our membership in the Green Church Network.

d) Next meeting: Depending on the status of highway clean-ups – Rose-Marie will call the Goulais River Patrol Yard to clarify
